Special Community Events
Willow Bend often celebrates special events for the entire community to join! These events are open to the public — there’s no need to sign up — and they’re appropriate for adults and families with children of all ages. Events are generally free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted.
Materials Recovery Facility Tours (Flagstaff Recycling Center)
Willow Bend offers public guided tours of the City Recycling Center / Norton Environmental Materials Recovery Facility on the first Friday of every month at 3 p.m., we lead a free, walk-in tour open to the public. Thanks to support from the City of Flagstaff, we offer all MRF tours free of charge.
Flagstaff Sustainable Living Fair
Willow Bend is a founding member of the Northern Arizona Sustainable Living Fair Association. In September, fair features many local organizations, businesses, and individual entrepreneurs whose common goal is to promote local, healthy, sustainable living. The focus of the fair is on fun and education.
Earth Day
In April, Willow Bend joins other organizations in celebrating Earth Day at the City of Flagstaff’s Earth Day event at City Hall / Wheeler Park. Willow Bend’s booth features hands-on activities and something to make and take home.
Science in the Park
Willow Bend offers hands-on science activities at the Festival of Science in Wheeler Park each September. In addition, we host an open house at the education center during the festival.
