About Our AmeriCorps Volunteers...

In addition to our full- and part-time staff, Willow Bend has two full-time AmeriCorps volunteers.

Enivornmental Educator

1. Teach environmental education classes 2-3 days per week in local schools (K-12)

2. Lead field trips and Family Science events at Willow Bend Environmental Education Center

3. Lead field trips at the Recycling Center

4. Participate in Community Events (Earth Day, Science in the Park, Sustainable Living Fair, etc.)

5. Assist with development of new Discovery Room Exhibits and new classroom programs.

 

Outreach and Development Assistant

1.  Assist with Grant Writing and Fundraising Activities

2.  Help with Marketing and PR including newsletters, event fliers, and web site maintenance

3.  Assist with general office tasks

4.  Participate in Willow Bend activities such as open hours, Family Science Night, etc.

5.  Represent Willow Bend at special events and community events such as Earth Day, the Sustainable Living Fair, Festival of Science, etc. 

 


 

Willow Bend’s Staff

Sapna Sopori, Director

Sapna has 10 years of teaching experience in environmental education centers and holds a B.S. in Ecology and Evolution and a M.A. in Environmental Education.

Kirstie Bickford, Program Coordinator

Kirstie received a B.A. in English and Linguistics from Northwestern College in Minnesota. She is excited to work with and teach our community's children.

Laura Daum, AmeriCorps Outreach and Development Assistant

Laua has a B.A. in viola performance from the University of Oregon. Laura has a passion for nature and for teaching environmental education in our community.

Elsbeth Inglett

Elsbeth holds a B.A. in film production. She is excited to join Willow Bend and help strengthen environmental education in our northern Arizona community.

Andy Gould, Volunteer Teacher

Andy is a retired teacher from Flagstaff with many years of experience volunteer teaching in a variety of nature centers around the country. He leads school field trips to Willow Bend in the fall and spring.

Kay Encinio, Volunteer Teacher

Kay is a retired college teacher from Phoenix and holds an M.A. in Education. She teaches for Willow Bend in the classroom one day a week.
