Adult Workshop: Morel Mushrooms with Mike Dechter

Morel mushrooms are one of the most sought-after edible fungi throughout the world. Despite the dry desert climate of Arizona, the past several years have unveiled a surprising diversity of morels in the State from desert washes to mountain forests. This is your opportunity to learn about the morel mushrooms that can be found when conditions are right*. Arizona Mushroom Society Executive Director, Mike Dechter, will share information about the various Morchella species found in Arizona, what habitat they grow in, and important indicators and tools to help you on your hunt. Mike will also cook up and bring some morels from last year’s harvest so you can taste what it is all about!
