Adult Workshop: Birding 101, June 4th 3PM-7PM

$10 – $15

The workshop will cover basic birding skills using sight, sounds, behavior and habitat, review birding ethics, demonstrate a number of birding research methods, and provide opportunities for involvement with local citizen science birding efforts.

During the first part of the workshop participants will learn the basics of bird identification, how to properly use binoculars, how to use a bird field guide book, and where to find the best birding spots. In addition, a presentation about local bird research efforts will include radio telemetry and bird banding demonstrations. During the second part, participants will go out into the field (Rio Wetlands) with local birding experts and apply what they have learned.

Workshop will be led by expert birder and Northern Arizona Audubon Society board member, Trevor Hinckley and Brenda Strohmeyer, Supervisory Biological Technician/CE Coordinator with the Rocky Mountain Research Station.

Workshop is recommended for adults and children 10 years and older.

Cost: $15/general public, $10/Willow Bend and Audubon members and students. Workshop fees go directly to support Willow Bend and Northern Arizona Audubon Society.
